We Are Called Overview

"We cannot tolerate or turn a blind eye to racism and exclusion in any form and yet claim to defend the sacredness of every human life."
– Pope Francis

In July of 2020, the CHA Board of Trustees unanimously adopted a resolution endorsing the Catholic health ministry's Confronting Racism by Achieving Health Equity initiative. This initiative urges all those in the Catholic health ministry to take immediate action to achieve health equity in COVID-19 testing, treatment and vaccination, and work for systemic change for health equity by putting our own house in order, building right and just relationships with our communities, and advocating for change to end health disparities and systemic racism.

We are calling on Catholic health system and facility leaders to pledge their commitment to the initiative and integrate the initiative's principles and recommended actions throughout their ministries and communities. CHA is supporting the health ministry in implementing this initiative and invites the participating systems and facilities to share how they are carrying out initiative so that we can all learn from each other's actions.
