ST. LOUIS, Mo. — The Catholic Health Association announced that SSM Health President and CEO Laura S. Kaiser, FACHE, has been inaugurated as chairperson of the Catholic Health Association's (CHA) Board of Trustees for 2022-23.
Kaiser’s investiture ceremony took place this morning at CHA’s annual national Assembly in Indianapolis, Indiana. Her term begins July 1 and she will serve until June 30, 2023.
“It has been a blessing to spend the majority of my career in mission-driven Catholic healthcare, and it’s truly an honor to serve the CHA in this role,” Kaiser said. “I look forward to collaborating with colleagues throughout CHA as we seek to find new and innovative ways to better serve all our neighbors, especially the poor and vulnerable. Exceptional healthcare should be accessible and affordable to everyone.”
The CHA, founded in 1915, advances the Catholic health ministry of the United States in caring for people and communities. Comprised of more than 600 hospitals and 1,600 long-term care and other health facilities in all 50 states, the Catholic health ministry is the largest group of nonprofit health care providers in the nation. Every day, more than one in seven patients in the U.S. is cared for in a Catholic hospital.
“We’ve worked with Laura for many years and know her to be a passionate and innovative leader who is deeply committed to quality, safety, social justice, health equity and preservation of the earth,” said Sr. Mary Haddad, CHA President and CEO. “We’re looking forward to her valuable insight and leadership as CHA chair.”
Kaiser leads SSM Health, a Catholic not-for-profit health system serving communities across the Midwest through a robust and fully integrated health care delivery system.
