Barlin H. Ali is a senior diaspora advisor with USAID Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance
Ms. Ali has more than two decades of experience in dealing with international development and global international disaster response. She has worked with public and private organizations that manage humanitarian and refugee assistance around the world in response to natural and man-made emergencies, including the 2014 tsunami, 2010 Haitian earthquake, the 2011 earthquake/tsunami in Japan, the 1994 crises in Rwanda, the 1998 crises in Kosovo and the 1990s crises in Somalia.
During the Somali crisis in the early 1990s, Ms. Ali played a major role in disaster management and received commendation from the U.S Military European Task Force. In 2016, she received the Stevie Award for recognition of her achievements and positive contributions to government and non-profit organizations worldwide. In 2018, she received the Humanitarian Ambassador for International Women Achievers Award.
Ms. Ali enjoys volunteering and has served as the chairwoman of the University of Southern Somalia (USS). She is an accomplished cook and author, and has taught at the Culinaria Cooking School in Vienna, Virginia.

Certificate of Attendance
Please note: CHA does not offer Continuing Education Units (CEU) for any programs. Participants will receive an email with information on how to acquire a Certificate of Attendance following the program (typically included in the program evaluation email). Certificates of Attendance may be submitted to relevant organizations that accept proof of contact hours as credit. These include:
American College of Healthcare Executives: American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) members may self-report qualifying CEUs using the contact hour information provided on their CHA Certificate of Attendance. To self-report, log in as a member on the ACHE site; use the link on the left-hand side to self-report applicable contact hours for CEU credit.
NACC Board Certified Chaplains: National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC) board certified chaplain members may self-report their continuing education hours (CEH's) using the contact hours information provided on their CHA Certificate of Attendance.
