From the moment the first confirmed U.S. COVID-19 patient was admitted to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett near Seattle last January, Providence St. Joseph Health moved immediately into the vanguard of the nation’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

From its position at ground zero, the physicians, nurses and caregivers at the health system’s hospitals and long-term care facilities in Seattle, Oregon, California and elsewhere faced unprecedented challenges from the rapid spread of the novel coronavirus and the significant risks it posed to patients, associates and the entire community.

This webinar will present Providence St. Joseph Health’s comprehensive ethics response to the COVID-19 crisis, including how it is addressing ethical challenges encountered by its facilities, command centers, individual caregivers, and regional and system leadership.

The distinctive format features a series of concise, lightning round presentations by ethicists representing several regions served by Providence St. Joseph Health in Alaska, Washington, Montana, Oregon, Southern California, Texas and New Mexico. There will be extensive opportunity for questions and dialogue.

Serving as moderator is Kevin M. Dirksen, M.Div., M.Sc., HEC-C, senior ethicist, director of ethics education, Providence Center for Health Care Ethics.

This special program is presented by CHA as part of our ongoing support for medical professionals and the health care community during the novel coronavirus global health crisis.

Please note: We encourage you to register for the webinar even if your schedule doesn't allow you to participate in the live event as a recording of the program will be distributed after the event.
