Human Dignity
Human dignity lies at the heart of the Catholic social tradition. All human life is created in the image and likeness of God and thus possesses an inherent and transcendent dignity simply by being human. The Church teaches that our human dignity is inviolable and must be reverenced, protected and defended for every human being.
Common Good
The Catholic tradition defines the common good as the sum total of conditions that allow people to reach their fulfillment more fully and more easily, either as groups or as individuals. It involves the social structures and conditions that can lead to human flourishing.
Social Justice
Social Justice refers to the structural requirements for a virtuous and just society. This view of justice evaluates public institutions within a society. It focuses on the functioning of major public institutions of the legal, economic, social or political order. And so, social justice serves to evaluate society's essential institutions in terms of their ability to satisfy an individual's minimum needs and basic rights.
