PRESIDENTS AND CEOS
Janice G. Murphy to president and chief executive of the Sisters of Charity Health System of Cleveland effective Jan. 1. She was president and chief executive of St. Vincent Charity Medical Center, part of that health system. She will replace Thomas J. Strauss, who will step down effective Dec. 31. Succeeding Murphy as president of St. Vincent Charity Medical Center effective Jan. 1 is Dr. Adnan Tahir. He now is senior vice president/chief clinical and administrative officer for the hospital.

CommonSpirit Health facilities have made these changes:

  • Dr. Gary Kaplan will end his time as chief executive of Virginia Mason Franciscan Health. Since that health system's January formation, Kaplan has worked alongside Ketul J. Patel as co-chief executives. Effective Jan. 1, Patel will be sole chief executive. For one year, Kaplan will remain as a special adviser to Patel and a senior vice president at CommonSpirit Health. Virginia Mason Franciscan was formed through the combination of Virginia Mason Health System and CHI Franciscan Health.
  • Chad Melton to president of Virginia Mason's St. Michael Medical Center in Silverdale, Washington, effective Sept. 13. He was chief executive of Fauquier Health System/LifePoint Health in Warrenton, Virginia.
  • Jennifer Schomburg to president of Virginia Mason's St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma, Washington, effective Sept. 7. She was system chief executive of Northwest Medical Center and Oro Valley Hospital in Tucson, Arizona.
  • Linda Hunt plans to retire as president and chief executive of Dignity Health's Southwest Division, effective in January.
  • Bruce Peters plans to retire as president and chief executive of Dignity Health Mercy Hospitals Bakersfield, effective in January. He heads two Bakersfield campuses, Mercy Hospital Downtown and Mercy Hospital Southwest.

Aristides "Ardy" Pallin to president and chief executive of Catholic Health Services of Lauderdale Lakes, Florida. He was chief operating officer. He replaces Joe Catania, who retired.
