Hospital Sisters Health System acquires Greenville, Ill., hospital

Hospital Sisters Health System of Springfield, Ill., acquired Greenville Regional Hospital, a 42-bed nonprofit hospital, on May 2.

With the change, Greenville Regional Hospital of Greenville, Ill., now is Catholic and adheres to the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services. Hospital Sisters Health System has renamed the facility HSHS Holy Family Hospital.

According to information from Hospital Sisters Health System, the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board approved the acquisition March 29.

The hospital currently has an eight-member board. A system representative said the system will seat a new board for HSHS Holy Family Hospital that includes some Greenville Regional Hospital board members, and new members from the community and from the system.

Seven of Hospital Sisters Health System’s other 13 hospitals are in Illinois. The system’s Highland and Litchfield hospitals are within 30 miles of the Greenville facility.
