The art of cancer fundraising

July 1, 2016

Dawn Gee, a news anchor for WAVE-TV in Louisville, Ky., center, prepares to launch a paint-filled balloon onto a giant canvas as part of a "Splat Out Cancer" fundraiser at Louisville Waterfront Park. Gee was among the community members who slung balloons to create a communal work of art paint splat. The event at Louisville's Kentucky Derby Festival in May raised funds for cancer research at the James Graham Brown Cancer Center, through the Jewish Hospital and St. Mary's Foundation. The cancer center is a partnership of KentuckyOne Health and the University of Louisville, and the foundation is part of KentuckyOne.
