GIFTS AND GRANTS The foundation of Kenmore Mercy Hospital of Kenmore, N.Y., has received a $2.3 million bequest from a grateful patient. The foundation board and hospital have yet to determine how they will use the unrestricted donation from local resident John M. Repetski, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and a retired chief metallurgist with General Motors. The gift is the largest individual donation that Kenmore Mercy has ever received.
The Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland has reported that it invested $1.3 million in grants and outreach from June 2014 through November 2015. The foundation said the investments help improve the lives of impoverished families, women and children. The funds also help reduce the infant mortality rate in Cleveland.
McAuley Ministries, Pittsburgh Mercy's grant-making foundation, has awarded $522,000 in grants to 12 Pittsburgh nonprofit organizations. The grants will support affordable housing, workforce development, education, health and wellness, community and economic development.
Bon Secours Baltimore Health System has received a $250,000 gift from Mr. and Mrs. Raphael Jenkins that will fund the Center for Sight & Vision at Bon Secours. The center will be located in the former St. Martin's Church building in West Baltimore.
