CHA members are invited to share their organization's strategies and programs to end health disparities and create health equity, so the association can highlight these efforts on its website throughout April — National Minority Health Month. The event's theme this year, "Bridging Health Equity Across Communities," focuses attention on addressing the social determinants of health.
Ministry members are asked to submit to CHA the title of their program, a brief explanation of the program's goals and tactics and an explanation of how its effectiveness is measured. Include a contact person for follow-up inquiries and send the information to Communications Director Kim Van Oosten at [email protected].
Kathy Curran, CHA's senior director of public policy and staff liaison to the CHA board's Committee on Diversity and Health Disparities, said, "Minority Health Month is a good time to lift up what the ministry is doing to create a just health care system and make sure everyone gets the care they need. We want to celebrate our members' programs and share best practices across the ministry."
CHA is a partner in Equity of Care, a national call to action to eliminate health care disparities and improve quality of care for every patient. As part of that effort, CHA collaborates with the American Hospital Association; the American College of Healthcare Executives; the Association of American Medical Colleges; and America's Essential Hospitals on national efforts to reduce care disparity based on race, culture or ethnicity.
