GRANTS/GIFTS
Hawaiian construction company Nan Inc. donated $1 million to St. Francis Healthcare Foundation of Hawaii toward the Clarence T.C. Ching Skilled Nursing Facility on the St. Francis Liliha campus in Honolulu. It was the second large gift toward the project. The Clarence T.C. Ching Foundation also gave a lead gift of $4 million in 2013 when St. Francis announced its plan to open a skilled nursing facility.
Lea's Foundation for Leukemia Research has pledged $555,000 to the Saint Francis/Mount Sinai Regional Cancer Center, part of Saint Francis Care in Hartford, Conn.
Mercy of Chesterfield, Mo., has received a $380,000-plus telemedicine grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture for rural care in Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma.
SSM Home Care/Hospice of St. Louis and the Central Missouri Area Agency on Aging is receiving more than $366,000 from the Missouri Foundation for Health for a telehealth project.
Providence Hospital, Southfield, Mich., has received an initial $60,000 grant from the Breath of Life Foundation for research and education on asbestos-related health issues.

HONORS
Cincinnati-based Catholic Health Partners has received Premier Inc.'s 2014 Richard A. Norling Premier Alliance Excellence Award, for its innovation in improving care quality and in reducing costs.
Susan Starling, president and chief executive of Marcum and Wallace Memorial Hospital, Irvine, Ky., has received the 2013 Shirley Ann Munroe Leadership Award from the American Hospital Association. The award is for leaders who have improved rural hospitals through innovation. Marcum and Wallace is part of Catholic Health Partners.
