Advent is the beginning of the Church's liturgical year and our season of preparation for the celebration of Christmas. Advent prepares us to celebrate the anniversary of the Lord's birth on Christmas as we consider the mystery of the incarnation, anticipate Christ's second coming at the end of time and look for the ways Jesus is born in our lives each day. In 2018, it begins on Sunday, Dec. 2.
CHA is pleased to annually provide resources to help those in the ministry of health care and even beyond consider the season of Advent and Christmas — their meaning and connections to their own lives. The 2018 set is authored by John "Jack" Shea, a consultant with decades of experience in providing theological and formation services to parishes and faith-based organizations. For 20 years he directed the Doctor of Ministry Program at St. Mary of the Lake University and for 10 years he was the executive director of the Leadership Formation Program in Catholic Health Care at the Ministry Leadership Center. He is also a theologian and storyteller who lectures nationally and internationally on storytelling in world religions, faith-based health care, contemporary spirituality and the spirit work movement.
The reflections are provided in three formats: hardcopy, audio and video. We hope that you will share them widely across your organization and in social media.
