God of might and mercy, we call to mind all those who have given of themselves in military service, past and present. May our remembrance of their courage, sacrifice, and call to defend freedom and peace honor you. Hear our prayer:
For those who bear the weight of war:
Grant them rest from their labors and healing from every wound – visible and invisible; body, mind, and spirit.
Restore them, O God.
For those oppressed by moral injury:
Guard them by your strength and hold them close as you work for justice.
Fight for them, O God.
For those who live with memories of war:
Calm their anxieties, heal their pain, and bring your light to every shadow.
Give them peace, O God.
For military families who know wait and worry:
Draw near with your love and wait with them in hope.
Accompany them, O God.
For the fallen:
Receive them into your eternal care and let your light shine upon them.
Welcome them, O God.
For the sin of war:
Forgive us for the pride that divides, the hatred we choose, and our unwillingness to be agents of peace.
Have mercy on us, O God.
Lord of hosts, shelter all who serve under Your wings. May we give thanks for their brave service by our prayers and with our lips. Teach us to cry out for justice until all people and the earth know freedom and peace.
