    • "Alabama could face significant funding losses if Congress moves forward with budget resolutions that propose deep cuts to Medicaid, food assistance, and other essential services. The reductions are part of broader efforts to finance tax cuts for corporations and high-income earners, renewing provisions from the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.”
    • “If enacted, the cuts could affect hundreds of thousands of Alabamians who rely on federally funded programs. Medicaid, which covers nearly one in five state residents, could see reductions that result in lost coverage and stricter eligibility requirements. A 50-page list of programs targeted for reduction or elimination includes proposals to slash funding for Medicaid and to cut money for hospitals in poor communities or eliminate subsidies that help middle-class people afford health insurance. Some changes could save as much as $900 billion over a decade, according to the Republican analysis."
    • "The proposed federal funding cuts emerged during a tumultuous week in which the Trump administration sought resignations from some 2 million federal workers, continued to remove or block access to data from government websites and eliminated support for overseas development programs.
