vs. 1

vs. 2

This day God gives me

This day God sends me

Strength of high heaven,

Strength as my guardian

Sun and moon shining,

Might to uphold me

Flame in my hearth,

Wisdom as guide.

Flashing of lightning,

Your eyes are watchful,

Wind in its swiftness,

Your ears are listening,

Depths of the ocean,

Your lips are speaking,

Firmness of earth

Friend at my side.

 SINGING . . . This Day God Gives Me, verses 1, 2

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever.

Leader: We gather in faith. We gather in love. We gather in hope. We gather in the name of our God who created us and sustains us in each of life's moments . . . with confidence in God, whose mercy endures forever.

ALL: Amen.

Matthew 5 & 11, excerpts
At the end of the reading: Reader: The Word of the Lord.
ALL:        Thanks be to God

I thank my God every time I remember you.
In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now,
being confident of this - that the One who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
(cf. Philippians 1)

Peace I leave with you, my friends . . .

SINGING . . . This Day God Gives Me, verses, 3, 4

vs. 3

vs. 4

God's way is my way,

Rising I thank you,

God's shield is 'round me,

Mighty and strong One,

God's host defends me,

King of creation,

Saving from ill.

Giver of rest,

Angels of heaven,

Firmly confessing

Drive from me always

God in three Persons,

All that would harm me,

Oneness of Godhead,

Stand by me still.

Trinity blest.
