Ethics Support in Responding to COVID-19: A Case Study of Providence St. Joseph

From the moment the first confirmed U.S. COVID-19 patient was admitted to Providence Regional Medical Center Everett near Seattle last January, Providence St. Joseph Health moved immediately into the vanguard of the nation’s fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

From its position at ground zero, the physicians, nurses and caregivers at the health system’s hospitals and long-term care facilities in Seattle, Oregon, California and elsewhere faced unprecedented challenges from the rapid spread of the novel coronavirus and the significant risks it posed to patients, associates and the entire community.

This webinar will present Providence St. Joseph Health’s comprehensive ethics response to the COVID-19 crisis, including how it is addressing ethical challenges encountered by its facilities, command centers, individual caregivers, and regional and system leadership.
