December 16 — Advent Novena Begins
"The Lord hears the cry of the poor" — Psalm 34:6
In this sacred season, we are reminded that God draws near — not in power or wealth, but in vulnerability. Christians are reminded that the Christ Child was born among the poor, not the privileged. His coming reveals God’s deep attentiveness to every human cry, especially those uttered in silence, despair, hunger, or illness.
When we pause to truly and deeply listen — to the lonely or fearful patient, the exhausted caregiver, the struggling family — we echo God's promise: "I see you. I hear you. You are not alone."
At this time and in this place, regardless of our spiritual path or religious tradition, there is an invitation to open our ears, hearts, and hands to the cries that echo beyond words. May this be a place where hope is kindled through compassion, presence, and the sacred work of healing. For in every act of mercy, we prepare the way for God's healing presence — in us, among us, and through us. The Lord hears the cry of the poor… So must we!

Pray
God, who is hope, shine Your light in our darkness so that we may continue to build Your kingdom. Let us be reflections of Your brilliance, always working to make Your goodness known. In Your Holy Name we pray, Amen.
