THURSDAY, DECEMBER 24
2 Samuel 7:1-5, 8b-12, 14a, 16; Psalm 89; Luke 1:67-79
As the rush of the Advent season finally slows down on this Christmas Eve, I find myself reflecting deeply on the profound mystery of the birth of Jesus - His first cry piercing the dark, quiet night as Mary tenderly swaddles Him and lays Him in a straw-filled manger.
Mary and Joseph travel to Bethlehem hoping to find a suitable place for the birth of their son, only to be turned away until they find a stable in a darkened, forgotten corner. Yet, there in the stillness, surrounded by the simplicity of the night, the Holy Family gazes at their little son with wonder, awe and a deep sense of divine purpose.
Tonight, as we look at the warm glow of candles or the lights on the tree, let us be reminded that Christmas Eve stands as an enduring symbol of God's timeless promise of hope, redemption and salvation. In a world that often feels overwhelmed by noise and distraction, this holy night invites us to pause. Let us lay down our anxieties, fears and endless to-do lists, and breathe in the profound peace, joy and grace that our Lord God offers us. May this sacred time bring rest to your spirit and fill your home with love.

Merry Christmas!
Pray
God of the Universe, Creator of Light and Dark: You have formed us together as one body to proclaim Your peace. Draw us beyond our own narrowness to recognize Christ within ourselves and one another. Help us to choose unity – humility over pride and patience over anger. Make in us Your dwelling place, O God, that we may be worthy builders of Your Kingdom and true instruments of Your grace. Amen.
