Prayers Advent Reflections

Saturday

December 20

Brené Brown has positioned herself as a vulnerability expert as she continuously argues vulnerability as the heart of genuine connection. She explains that when we share our true selves, including our uncertainties and fears, we invite others to do the same, fostering a culture of empathy and understanding. This openness lays the foundation for authenticity, encouraging individuals and communities to live in alignment with their values, developing resilience, strengthening connections and a sense of self, nurturing hope - personally and communally.

Today's Gospel reading is one of the most beautiful displays of human and Divine vulnerability in Scripture. Mary's courage in questioning and dialoguing with the angel shows her vulnerability as she's trying to understand what the angel is saying to her. Likewise, God becomes vulnerable - connecting, explaining, and engaging Mary at her human level, but engendering trust, hope, and ultimately God's only son within her.

How can we allow our vulnerability to be a catalyst for trust, respect, and hope in the communities we serve?

Pray

God, who is hope, shine Your light in our darkness so that we may continue to build Your kingdom. Let us be reflections of Your brilliance, always working to make Your goodness known. In Your Holy Name we pray, Amen.
