Prayers Advent Reflections

Monday

December 15

In a world that feels chaotic and days that feel too full, we need both hope and peace. Hope orients us toward a promised future — peace lets us breathe in the present. Together, they give us the strength to live with courage and calm, with trust and perseverance. Ultimately, the presence of the Holy Spirit sustains both our hope and our peace.

Advent invites us to renew our prayer and spiritual practices so we can live more deeply in the hope and peace that God offers.

"The life of peace begins with prayer. If we want peace within us, we have to sit quietly for some time each day breathing in the Holy Spirit of peace, breathing out the inner wars, handing over our inner turmoil to God, waiting to receive the gift of peace from God and attending to God's movement, voice and presence."

How do your spiritual practices sustain your hope and peace?

Pray

God, who is hope, shine Your light in our darkness so that we may continue to build Your kingdom. Let us be reflections of Your brilliance, always working to make Your goodness known. In Your Holy Name we pray, Amen.
