Environmental Justice - A Conversation with Activist Hilton Kelley

Presented on March 16, 2021

When Navy veteran and stunt man/actor Hilton Kelley returned to his predominantly black hometown of Port Arthur, Texas, for a vacation after a long absence, he was shocked with what he found and knew he had to stay. Port Arthur is on the fence line of eight petrochemical facilities. Too many neighbors were ill with cancer and children were suffering respiratory illness. Mr. Kelley became an environmental activist and community organizer, training community members to test air quality, fighting a planned incinerator and using litigation to protect his community. Join us for this webinar to learn how community action can work for environmental justice and how health care organizations can support these efforts.
