CommonSpirit Health has opened a new hospital in Ringgold, Georgia, replacing an older campus and expanding care in North Georgia. The hospital is about 20 miles southeast of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
CommonSpirit — Memorial Hospital — North Georgia opened Jan. 11. All inpatients at CHI Memorial Hospital Georgia campus were transferred to the new hospital campus. The first surgery at the new hospital took place on Jan. 12.
"This is more than just a building; it's a realization of a long-standing commitment to the health and well-being of North Georgia," Angie Stiggins, administrator for CommonSpirit–Memorial Hospital–North Georgia, said in a press release.
The new 180,000-square-foot hospital has 64 patient rooms, a 24-bed emergency department, an eight-bed intensive care unit, five operating rooms and two endoscopy suites. It also has imaging, a laboratory, bistro dining and a chapel.
The hospital also is built to use "the latest in artificial intelligence, automation, and virtual care technology to provide personalized care," according to the release.
CommonSpirit had leased the hospital's previous campus. It is owned by Catoosa County, Georgia.
