Catholic health organizations, including Catholic Healthcare Partners (CHP), are establishing a closer working relationship with Migrant Health Promotion. In 2010, Jack Gallagher, CHP corporate director for ethics, joined with representatives from Catholic health organizations to tour farms in Michigan that employ migrants and met with the Migrant Health Promotion Board.

Migrant Health Promotion strives to improve the ability of migrant farm worker families to live healthy lives within healthy communities. CHP and other Catholic health systems have supported the organization's efforts over the years and are working to forge a closer relationship. To that end, representatives from CHP and other Catholic health organizations will meet twice each year with the Board of Migrant Health Promotion to work more closely in meeting the needs of these workers and their families.

In 2010, the CHP Foundation funded a grant enabling four representatives from CHP to travel to Brownsville, Texas, to gain first-hand experience on how Migrant Health Promotion trains health promoters and midwives to serve migrant workers.

The goal is to enrich CHP's existing programs with ideas from Migrant Health Promotion's highly effective model.
