Patricia Casey, or Tricia, as her friends call her, developed the Special Needs Tracking and Awareness Response System (STARS) in response to a glaring gap in emergency care for children with special health needs. Thanks to her efforts, EMS personnel now have real-time access to personalized care plans for the technology-dependent children in their districts. And when they arrive on the scene, precious moments are saved because they’re carrying the specialized medical equipment that child needs.
