CALL TO PRAYER
Leader
God, our Creator, we are sharply aware that our human knowledge is limited
and that all wisdom comes from You. Our life draws dignity and grace from the
love of Jesus present among us. And so we come before you, our God, asking for
an increase of divine wisdom in our life so that our every action may announce
that integrity and truth come from God alone.
All
Give us wisdom in our time, Holy One. We ask for this grace through Christ
and the Holy Spirit, with you, One God, forever and ever. Amen.
READING
John 8:31-32
To the Jews who believed in him, Jesus said: If you make my word your home,
you will indeed be my disciples, you will come to know the truth, and the truth
will set you free.
REFLECTION
Psalm 145 (Alternating Sides or Alternating Individuals)
I sing your praise, O My God, and I will praise your name forever and ever.
Every day will I bless you, and I will praise your name forever and ever.
Great are you, Yahweh, and most worthy of praise, your greatness is beyond
our understanding.
Generation after generation praises your work and proclaims your might.
They speak of your splendor and glorious renown.
They discourse on the power of your wonderful deeds and declare your greatness.
Yahweh you are gracious and compassionate, you are good to all.
All your works give you thanks, O God, and your faithful ones bless you.
You open your hand and satisfy the desire of every living thing.
You are just in all your ways and loving in all your works.
You are near to all who call upon you, to all who call upon you sincerely.
May my mouth speak your praise, O God, and may all creatures bless your
holy name forever and ever.

CLOSING PRAYER
Leader
O God, who winks quarks and quasars and braids Saturn's rings, intrigue me
out of my shame at making mistakes: fear of the worst I could do or be keeps
me from risking my best.
Remind me, again, spinner of galaxies, possibilities, and
my inquisitive, quivering spirit, that what joins me to you
is less the devout repetition of the tried and safely true,
than the creative dare, the imaginative lurch, the reworking
of the expected toward an unexpected new: at risk of making
errors, yes, but faith, and love, and merry, too.
