St. Louis-based Ascension Health has named executives to its senior leadership team. The move follows the system's Jan. 9 announcement that it had created a holding company called Ascension Health Alliance. Several senior leaders of Ascension Health moved to leadership positions in the holding company, creating some of the vacancies filled by these appointments.
When the holding company was launched, Robert J. Henkel was named president and chief executive of Ascension Health and executive vice president of Ascension Health Alliance.
The members of his Ascension Health executive team are:

Charles J. Barnett, president, healthcare operations and chief operating officer. He was Ascension Health Texas/Missouri ministry market leader and president and chief executive of Seton Healthcare Family in Austin, Texas. He has taken a leave of absence as chief executive at Seton. Jesus Garza now is president and interim chief executive of Seton Healthcare Family. Garza was executive vice president and chief operating officer, Seton Healthcare Family, and president, Seton Family of Hospitals, Austin.

Eric S. Engler, senior vice president, strategic planning and development.

Dr. Ziad Haydar, senior vice president for clinical excellence and chief medical officer.

Christine Kocot McCoy, senior vice president, legal services and general counsel. She also will continue to oversee Ascension Health's risk management function.

Juli Shields, chief compliance officer. She also will continue as vice president, legal services, and associate general counsel with responsibility for Ascension Health's compliance programs.

Challis Lowe, senior vice president, organizational development and human resources.

Stephen D. LeResche, who continues as vice president, communications, and also oversees corporate meetings and travel.

Sr. Maureen McGuire, DC, who continues as senior vice president, mission integration, and who also serves as executive vice president, mission integration, for Ascension Health Alliance.
