GRANTS AND GIFTS

Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center Foundation in Joliet, Ill., named its cardiac catheterization laboratory after LaVerne and Dorothy Brown for the $500,000 donation they pledged.

The Connecticut Health Foundation has awarded Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center in Hartford, Conn., a $200,000, two-year grant to support a health equity fellowship position and an $85,000 grant to develop an oral health program for expectant mothers.

Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Hospital in Binghamton, N.Y., received a $250,000 gift from the J. Donald & Irma M. Ahearn Foundation as part of the Mission 2012 Campaign to modernize and expand key parts of the hospital.

Children's Hospital of San Antonio received a $163,700 grant from the Kohl's Cares Immunization Program to improve immunization rates among children in San Antonio.

St. Francis Healthcare Foundation of Hawaii in Honolulu received $100,000 in grants from the Samuel N. & Mary Castle Foundation to complete the construction of the St. Francis Preschool.

Schervier Nursing Care Center in Riverdale, N.Y., received a $58,400, two-year grant from Amie's Place Foundation to launch a pet therapy treatment program.

Lourdes' Little Miracles Birthing Center in Paducah, Ky., received a $51,000 grant from IMPACT Lourdes to provide a comfortable, homelike environment for expecting families.

HONOR

Dr. Nazir Khan of Presence Saints Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center in Chicago received patent approval for a hybrid arteriovenous shunt for chronic renal failure patients on dialysis.
