OBITUARY

Dan Mattes died Nov. 8 at age 46. He was president of the central market of Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare of Wheaton, Ill.

GRANTS/GIFTS

Mercy Health Foundation, Springfield, Mo., received three significant gifts in September: $650,000 from businessman Bobby Allison for the Betty and Bobby Allison neonatal intensive care unit, following a previous $2 million Allison donation; $500,000 from Springfield resident Charles Eggers, for Mercy's children's hospital, in memory of his late daughter; and $500,000 from the Mercy auxiliary for Mercy's Family Resource Center, which runs educational programs including childbirth classes for expectant parents.

The Trager Transplant Center at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Ky., has received $800,000 from the Jewish Heritage Fund for Excellence. The funding will support a new treatment for chronic pancreatitis. Jewish is part of KentuckyOne Health of Louisville.

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society has awarded a $500,000 grant to the multiple sclerosis center at the Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital, part of Saint Francis Care, Hartford, Conn.
