Pilgrims of Hope, Sustaining Strength for the Journey

“Those who go forth weeping, carrying sacks of seed, will return with cries of joy, carrying their bundled sheaves.” Psalm 126:6

“As providers, employers, advocates, and citizens, we bring together people of diverse faiths and backgrounds.”
Adapted, Shared Statement of Identity for Catholic Health Care

We travel the road of pilgrimage together, bringing to life Jesus’s healing ministry. As pilgrims, we are invited to consider other perspectives, to engage with people who are different than us, and to deepen our awareness of the Holy, present and walking with us.

The road is long, and sometimes quite treacherous. And yet, cultivating a mindset of expectancy enlightens even the most ordinary moments. With companions, the burden of blistered feet and aching joints is shared. In community, we find strength that sustains us for the journey.

Let us pray —

You call us to walk with open hearts, O God,
to listen deeply to perspectives not our own,
and to find Your presence in every face we meet.

Sharpen our vision, that we might
see the sacred in the ordinary.
Move our hearts in tandem, that our feet might
stay with the rhythm of Your grace.
May we recognize Your footsteps beside ours.

When our spirits tire and our feet grow weary,

may we find rest in You, and in one another, O God.

May our hope be rooted in the love we give,

the community we build,
and the light we carry, together.

AMEN
