CHRISTUS Health realigns the roles and titles of more than a dozen top system executives

CHRISTUS Health of Irving, Texas, has reorganized its executive leadership ranks, effective Nov. 1, realigning the roles and titles of more than a dozen of the system's top executives.

According to an announcement, the system made the changes to "strengthen the organization's ability to fulfill its mission of extending the healing ministry of Jesus Christ, advance strategic priorities and position the ministry for continued service and growth across the United States and Latin America."

In the announcement, CHRISTUS Health said the realignment reflects the system's "commitment to thoughtful succession planning, developing leaders from within and positioning the ministry to meet the evolving needs of the communities it serves."

Ernie Sadau, CHRISTUS Health president and CEO, said in a press release, "as CHRISTUS continues to grow and respond to the changing needs of our patients, families and communities, thoughtful succession planning and leadership alignment remain critical to our long-term resilience and sustainability."

He said three leaders — Paul Generale, Marty Margetts and Dr. Sam Bagchi — will lead the transition. Sadau said these team members' "experience, leadership and commitment to our mission will help drive our strategic priorities and continue the healing ministry of Jesus Christ into the future."

CEO cabinet
Much of the change relates to an eight-member CEO cabinet that supports Sadau. The cabinet includes:

  • Kimberly King Webb, who now is executive vice president, chief human resources officer; she was senior vice president, chief human resources officer. She will lead human resources operations, talent and recruitment, change management and legal services, supporting leadership development, workforce engagement and organizational capabilities.
  • Two CEO cabinet members remain on the cabinet, retaining their prior titles: Randy Safady, executive vice president and chief financial officer, and Steve Kazanjian, executive vice president and chief mission integration officer.
Other promotions
CHRISTUS has also promoted other leadership team members in support of the restructuring. They include:
  • Alejandro Canavati to senior vice president and chief operating officer, Latin America, from senior vice president of Latin American operations and support.
