Talks end on ownership transfer for Denville, N.J., facility

Ascension Health Care Network, Catholic Health Initiatives and Saint Clare's Health System have discontinued their talks on transferring ownership of Saint Clare's of Denville, N.J., from CHI to Ascension Health Care Network.

Englewood, Colo.-based CHI and Saint Clare's had been seeking a new owner for the three-hospital system because they saw a need for the subsystem to be part of a regional network. CHI has no other hospitals in New Jersey. CHI and Saint Clare's announced their negotiations with St. Louis-based Ascension Health Care Network in March. With those talks ended, CHI and Saint Clare's are continuing to seek a buyer for Saint Clare's. They also are exploring opportunities "for regionally clinically integrated networks of providers and payers in New Jersey," according to a press release.
