Taxing Matters

Sr. Carol Keehan, DC, center, CHA's president and chief executive officer, participates in a panel discussion on the tax implications of the Affordable Care Act. The event, held Feb. 15 in Washington, D.C., kicked off a multicity tour hosted by The Tax Institute at H&R Block to educate uninsured individuals and small businesses owners about income-based insurance subsidies and tax penalties for not having health insurance that go into effect next year. The panel includes, from left, Mark Pauly, a professor of health care management at the Wharton school of business, University of Pennsylvania; Paul Keckley, executive director for the Deloitte Center for Health Solutions; Sr. Carol; Blanche Lincoln, former Democratic senator from Arkansas; and moderator Megan Hughes, from Bloomberg TV.
