St. Anthony's in St. Petersburg to build emergency center, tower

CATHOLIC HEALTH EAST

St. Anthony's Hospital in St. Petersburg, Fla., has broken ground on a $50 million construction project that will replace the emergency department and add a patient care tower.

Administrators said the project will allow for the upgrading of technology, the addition of more private patient rooms and the expansion of waiting areas. The design of the new facilities is expected to enable clinicians to provide care more quickly and efficiently. St. Anthony's bed count of 395 will not change.

The emergency center and tower are slated to open in spring 2012.
