A staffer of Mercy Medical Center of Canton, Ohio, has bicycled 2,014 kilometers (1251.4 miles) across southeastern France and northern Italy on his own personal "Tour de Mercy."
Mercy network analyst Chris Christian completed his 15-day solo cycling feat Sept. 22 in Bergamo, Italy, raising $3,690 for the Mercy Cancer Center. Along the route, the now 50-year-old father of three navigated dangerous mountain roads with no guardrails and peddled along beautiful coastlines. On a trip blog at cantonmercy.org/tourdemercy, Christian said he rode to honor family members diagnosed with cancer and others affected by the disease and to raise awareness of how people can reduce their cancer risk.
