SSM Health plans to break ground on the $42 million, 180,000-square-foot complex early next year. It is expected to open in 2028.
The Sisters of St. Agnes who live in the St. Francis Home, the senior living facility on the campus of SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital - Fond du Lac, will have the opportunity to live and work in the new community.
SSM Health will evaluate how to use the old space on the hospital campus to enhance healthcare services, SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital President Shane Smith said in a statement.
ElderSpan Management, based in Madison, Wisconsin, will manage the new community. ElderSpan manages several senior living communities in Wisconsin, including some owned by SSM Health. The complex will feature independent living apartments, assisted living, memory care and high-need assisted living. It will have 136 units.
"We are delighted to be developing a modern campus with beautiful surroundings to offer seniors a welcoming, supportive home environment that promotes independence, enhanced quality of life and provides personalized care," Denise Gloede, SSM Health president of continuum of care, said in a statement. "Its thoughtful design will improve workflows so that caregivers can even more efficiently focus on providing for residents' needs."
