Nursing National Nurses Week

Each year from May 6 to May 12, communities across the country recognize the invaluable work of nurses during National Nurses Week. This week is an important opportunity for Catholic health care to honor nurses for their compassionate, quality care. To honor our ministries' nurses, and to celebrate their gifts and talents, CHA is pleased to be able to share some resources that might be of use in your activities.

A Special Time of Blessing for Nurses

During this week of celebration, we invite nurses to reflect on their calling to the vocation of nursing through the brief guided meditation offered below. We deeply appreciate your embodiment of compassion, your provision of quality care and your commitment to recognizing the inherent value in every person, viewing each life as a sacred gift and acknowledging every human being as a unity of body, mind and spirit.

Healing and Hope: A Prayer for Nurse's Week

Gracious God, source of all healing and hope:

We offer thanks for the nurses who place their knowledge, skill, and compassion at the service of patients, families, and all in need of care.

Bless them in knowledge and form them in humility.
As they safeguard life, ease pain, and honor the dignity of each person entrusted to them, bless their hands with gentleness. Strengthen their minds with wisdom and sustain them in their work as they act with integrity and serve in faithful collaboration.

When their day is complete, renew their strength. Root their vocation in Your healing mission, that they may uphold integrity, foster trust, and create communities of flourishing.

We ask this through Christ our Lord, healer of the sick and companion of all who serve.
Amen.
