Francisco "Frankie" Chevere is Director of Social Policy and Government Affairs with Catholic Charities USA. Frankie has a bachelor's degree in economics and government from Georgetown University and a Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He has had a multi-faceted career with leadership roles in the private, government and nonprofit sectors in Puerto Rico and the U.S. After a twenty-five-year legal career as a corporate-labor attorney, he served in the Puerto Rico government as head of an economic development corporation. Frankie has worked with Catholic Charities organizations for more than fifteen years. He served as legal advisor and board member for Catholic Charities ("Caritas") of Puerto Rico, and CEO / Executive Director of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Palm Beach in Florida.
In his current role at the national office of Catholic Charities, he leads legislative and regulatory advocacy in Congress and the executive branch in the areas of hunger and nutrition, disaster relief, employment and workforce development, religious liberty and matters related to Puerto Rico and the other U.S. territories. He has also done advocacy about proposed changes to Medicaid.
