CHA offered this web conference to its members and others interested
in climate change. The web conference addressed why energy policy
is an important issue for Catholic health care providers, and examined
energy policy within the context of an overall sustainability agenda. During
this 90-minute webinar, Sr. Susanne Hartung, SP, provided an overview
of the mission basis for sustainability and energy policies for Catholic health
care and described how her system launched its initiative. She was joined by
Richard Beam who zeroed in on energy and described his story, including how
he personally got involved. He also discussed the steps his facilities and the
system have adopted and what it has meant to the organization in
terms of savings and recognition. Clark Reed with the EPA talks
about resources available from the Energy Star program.
