Description
The initial session will provide an overview of the Catholic moral tradition, Catholic identity and integrity, and the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services. It will also explore ethical aspects of the professional-patient relationship, including informed consent, surrogate decision making, confidentiality, solidarity and autonomy.

Description
The course consists of two successive online sessions starting April 22 and June 3. Sessions will examine key principles around the sacredness of life, Catholic tradition regarding extraordinary and ordinary means, medical vitalism, palliative care, hospice, pain management, advance directives, POLST and other key issues pertaining to end-of-life care.

Description
This course consists of two successive online sessions beginning July 15 and Aug. 26. Sessions will discuss the Catholic tradition regarding marriage and the family, Humanae vitae, Catholic identity and American pluralism. The course will also examine clinical and ethical issues involving contraception/sterilization, ectopic pregnancy, preeclampsia, genetics, genomics and other vital beginning-of-life issues in Catholic health care.

The course will examine foundational principles of human dignity, solidarity, participation, subsidiarity, option for the poor and the common good. The course will also provide an in-depth look at transparency, disparities, community benefit, public health, environmental issues and international outreach.

This course consists of two successive online sessions beginning Dec. 30 and Feb. 10. The course will focus on organizational ethics, the business of health care, power, accountability, partnerships, and understanding and applying the principle of cooperation in a range of settings and situations. The course will also discuss a just workplace, employee relations, ethical conflict resolution, ethics policy development and review, and fostering an ethical culture within organizations.

Description
The last session is a two-day in-person meeting at CHA's St. Louis office to review and apply key learnings from coursework and to put these insights into practice through discussion and integration activities. The session will also address the characteristics of a robust ethics program in facilities and systems, including facilitation of ethics committees, ethics consults and learning when to refer ethical issues to a professional ethicist. The concluding session will also feature a reception for participants and faculty to celebrate completion of the program, network and discuss opportunities for ongoing communication.
