Pamela Schaeffer is the editor of
Health Progress, the official journal of the Catholic Health
Association of the United States. She is responsible for setting editorial
philosophy and standards, working with authors, coordinating the journal's
Editorial Advisory Committee and supervising the editorial staff. Before joining
CHA in 2008, Ms. Schaeffer worked for more than two decades as a reporter and
editor for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Religion News Service and the
National Catholic Reporter, and for five years as director of
communications for the Religious of the Sacred Heart. She has won numerous
writing and editing awards and has been nominated four times for the Pulitzer
Prize for specialized reporting on religion. She has served as a communications
consultant to numerous organizations, including the Catholic Theological Society
of America. She holds a bachelor's degree in English from Drury College and a
doctorate in historical theology from St. Louis University.
