Overview: The Advent season
is filled with Scripture of great activity: John the Baptist crying out the
desert, Mary’s visitation of Elizabeth, the people of Israel called out of
exile. Yet it is also a time of quiet preparation for the Incarnation of God in
the world. This combination – intense activity rooted in prayer – is a dynamic
familiar to those who work in Catholic health care. How might our work in
international outreach be improved by paying attention to the realities of this
dynamic?
This webinar provided timely insights into the challenges and
opportunities Catholic health care organizations have when participating in
international outreach activities in low-income countries. Using themes from the
Advent Season, Michael Rozier, S.J., a Jesuit, recently ordained deacon, and
faculty member of the Saint Louis University School of Public Health, addresses:
the mission imperative for this work; the challenges created in communities
before and after some interventions take place; why Catholic health care can be
a true leader in quality international outreach. If you or someone you work with has
participated in a mission trip, or has interest in planning or participating in
one, this webinar will provide ample food for thought on how to ensure that all
international programs are carried out in light of the best of what Catholic
tradition has to offer.
