Description

Immigrants in this country, both documented and undocumented, face many, though sometimes varied, challenges in obtaining quality, affordable health care.  Since one of Catholic health care’s primary commitments is to provide "health care to those in need of it" (Directive #1), especially "those people whose social condition puts them at the margins of our society and makes them particularly vulnerable to discrimination" (Directive #3). There is an urgent obligation on the part of Catholic health care to address this situation. This webinar examined the challenges immigrants face in access to health care and the responsibilities and possible responses from Catholic health care to address the health needs of immigrants.

Presenters: Mark Kuczewski, Ph.D., The Fr. Michael I. English, SJ, Professor of Medical Ethics, Director, Neiswanger Institute for Bioethics and Health Policy, Assistant Vice President for Mission and Identity Health Sciences Division, Loyola University Chicago; and Patricia Cassidy, Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer, Alexian Brothers Health System, Arlington Heights, Ill.

This is a recording of the webinar held on April 18, 2013.

Run time: 90 minutes

System Requirements:

  • Microsoft Windows 2000 or above
  • Pentium IV - GHZ Processor
  • 256 MB RAM
