A joint webinar by the USCCB, CHA
and the U.S. Catholic Sisters Against Human Trafficking
This 60-minute webinar will focus on the impact of the
pandemic on identifying, assisting and overall efforts to eradicate human
trafficking. Presenters from various Catholic ministries will share how they’ve
had to make adjustments and pivot through the various stages and phases of the
pandemic amidst a change in administrations. Specifically, topics to be
addressed include:
- Religious congregations’ continued work across Catholic
organizations and national and community groups to collaborate on activities
to prevent human trafficking in all its forms
- Adjustments made by the broader church to prevent human
trafficking during the pandemic period.
- Health care’s pivot amidst the stresses of the pandemic
to be able to provide trauma-informed care and assistance
- Policy updates related to trafficking
This webinar is part of the commemoration held on
February 8 – the World Day of Prayer, Reflection and Action Against Human
Trafficking – which is the liturgical memorial of St. Josephine Bakhita - a
slave girl who became a saint and a universal symbol of the Church’s commitment
against slavery. It is jointly sponsored by the United States Conference of
Catholic Bishops’ Department of Migration and Refugee Services, the Catholic
Health Association of the United States (CHA) and the U.S. Catholic Sisters
Against Human Trafficking.
