A 2015 CHA
survey of mission leaders and administrators in eldercare surfaced the need for
resources tailored specifically for leaders who minister within senior housing,
rehabilitation and long-term care facilities. This two-part webinar series is
offered in response to the unique challenges and opportunities of leaders who
work within these settings.
Part I – March
The focus of the March 1
webinar will be on mission integration and spiritual care as it relates to
patients and residents.
Part II – March
One week later, on March 8,
the presentation will concentrate on the missional and spiritual issues related
to employees who work in eldercare.

mission and spiritual care leaders, long-term care, rehabilitation and senior

After completion of the
March 1st webinar, participants will be able to:
- Distinguish the different environments and
responsibilities of mission leaders who work in Catholic long-term care and
acute care settings.
- Describe the types of partnerships
long-term care and rehabilitation facilities are entering with emphasis on the
role of mission leaders in the creation of these collaborations.
- Identify the role of mission leaders and
chaplains in providing for the spiritual needs of patients/residents.
- Articulate the role of mission and
spiritual care leaders in advanced care planning and ethical case
consultations in eldercare settings.
After completion of the
March 8th webinar, participants will be able to:
- Describe the practices of two Catholic
health care systems as they work to inspire their employees to see their work
as sacred ministry.
- Differentiate the roles of Mission
Integration and Human Resources when it comes to hiring, orientation, staff
retention, employee engagement and recognition.
- Articulate rituals and spiritual practices
oriented towards staff.
- Describe programs oriented towards
compassion fatigue and burnout.
- Discuss emerging issues and areas in
eldercare care that will impact Catholic long-term facilities and the future
work of mission leaders.
