CHP gives $2 million grant to CMMB for Haiti facility

December 1, 2013

Cincinnati-based Catholic Health Partners has given a $2 million challenge grant to the New York City-based Catholic Medical Mission Board for a health center that CMMB plans to build in Cotes-de-Fer, Haiti.

The 30-bed facility will provide women's and children's health care, internal medicine and surgical services. The center will be named for Bishop Joseph M. Sullivan of the Diocese of Brooklyn, N.Y., who died June 7.

CMMB had announced the $2 million donation this summer but did not name CHP as the donor at that time. CMMB already has received about $500,000 from other donors toward CHP's challenge.

CMMB will begin construction on the health center in the spring.
