The marching band of Cincinnati's Anderson High School greets arrivals to the groundbreaking ceremony for Mercy Health – Anderson Hospital, one of two Mercy Health hospitals in Cincinnati that are expanding in order to address a gap in services in the community.
Anderson Hospital broke ground last month on a $70 million tower that will have inpatient rehabilitation services, an intensive care unit, additional inpatient units and shelled space for growth. The Jewish Hospital broke ground in the spring on an $80 million project to renovate the emergency department, cardiac services, intensive care and ambulatory surgery, among other units. That hospital also will add a patient bed tower. When Mercy Health purchased Jewish Hospital several years ago, it promised to invest in the facility; and this project fulfills that commitment, according to Mercy Health leadership.
The projects will not change Anderson Hospital's 226 bed count nor Jewish Hospital's 209 count; but all patient rooms at both hospitals now will be private.
Mercy Health expects to complete both renovations around the second quarter of 2016.
