PRESIDENTS/CEOS
Scott Bruce to president and chief executive of St. Mary's Healthcare of Amsterdam, New York, effective July 1. He was the hospital's vice president of operations. He replaces Vic Giulianelli, who will retire July 1.

Mark Doyle to president and chief executive of Holy Cross Hospital of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, effective June 15. He was chief executive of Memorial Hospital Pembroke, Pembroke Pines, Florida.

Eric Holsopple to hospital administrator of the Saint Joseph Health System Plymouth Medical Center in Plymouth, Indiana. He was interim administrator.

ADMINISTRATIVE CHANGES
Avera Health of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, has made these changes: Dzenan Berberovic to chief philanthropy officer and Tom Clark to chief strategy and growth officer, effective July 12.

Covenant Health of Tewksbury, Massachusetts, and one of its facilities have made these changes: Tim Juergensen to vice president of human resources for Covenant Health; Dr. Brian G. Sweeney to physician advisor and Deborah Tighe to executive director of philanthropy for St. Joseph Hospital of Nashua, New Hampshire.

Dr. Marc E. Shelton to vice president and chief physician executive of Hospital Sisters Health System of Springfield, Illinois.

Eileen Matzek to regional chief information officer for Loyola Medicine of Maywood, Illinois.

Dr. Matthew Broom to vice president of medical affairs and chief medical officer of SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital of St. Louis.

OBITUARY
Sr. Rita Ferschweiler, SP, has died at age 102. She was administrator of Providence St. Vincent Hospital of Portland, Oregon, in 1964. She also served at St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, Washington, and Mount St. Vincent in Seattle, and later on the Provincial Council of the Sisters of Providence.

GIFT
Philanthropist David T. Orthwein has given $1 million toward a replacement hospital for SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital. The $550 million academic medical center is slated to open Sept. 1. Orthwein, who is an Anheuser-Busch brewery company heir, directed his contribution to the development of the hospital's chapel. The hospital raised $8.1 million in philanthropy before entering the public phase of fundraising for the construction project. Contributions included a $2.5 million challenge grant from the Alberici Foundation, as well as significant gifts from Ameren, Enterprise Holdings Foundation, Guarantee Electrical Company, The J.E. and L.E. Mabee Foundation, Lawrence Group, Mid-America Transplant, Murphy Company and Northstar Management Company – St. Louis.
