The Catholic University provides Spanish for Health Care courses online

December 1, 2017

The Catholic University of America is offering an online Spanish for health professionals program geared toward individuals with basic to no Spanish language background.

The four-course program is for those seeking a Spanish for Health Care Professionals Certificate.

The courses include the teaching of specialized Spanish vocabulary to use in health care situations. The courses also are designed to help professionals understand cultural differences within Hispanic cultures in order to provide culturally sensitive care.

Classes are taught online, and participants are able to follow the curriculum at their own pace. The first course begins Jan. 15 and the courses continue into next summer. Classes can be taken individually and in any order.

Each course runs for five weeks and 3.5 continuing education units are awarded upon completion of each course through the university's Metropolitan School of Professional Studies. There is rolling admission. Tuition is $1,500 per course, with a 10 percent scholarship offered to any Catholic-affiliated hospital, clinic, university, organization or Catholic University alumni.
