Shelly Johnson to chief executive of CHRISTUS Mother Frances Hospital–Winnsboro in Winnsboro, Texas.
David H. Vellinga plans to retire next year as president and chief executive of Mercy Health Network of West Des Moines, Iowa; chief executive of Mercy Medical Center – Des Moines; senior vice president of Englewood, Colo.–based Catholic Health Initiatives; and president of Trinity Health Iowa, part of Livonia, Mich.–based Trinity Health. Mercy Health Network is a joint operating venture between CHI and Trinity.
Sue Downs retired Oct. 20 as president of Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown, Ky., part of KentuckyOne Health of Louisville, Ky. Rick Vancise, Flaget vice president of ambulatory services, is serving as interim site executive.
Dan McElligott has resigned as president of CHI Health St. Francis of Grand Island, Neb., effective Nov. 23. Mike Schnieders, president of CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney, Neb., will assume leadership of St. Francis on an interim basis as CHI Health of Omaha, Neb., conducts a search for a new president.
ADMINISTRATIVE CHANGES
Covenant Health of Tewksbury, Mass., and one of its facilities have made these changes: Dr. Edward Chung to Covenant Health chief medical information officer; and James Keane to administrator of St. Joseph Manor Health Care in Brockton, Mass.
Judy Bilicki to vice president of the foundations of Bon Secours Hampton Roads Health System of Suffolk, Va. Each of Bon Secours Hampton Roads' three acute care hospitals has a foundation.
GIFTS/GRANTS
The Missouri Department of Economic Development has awarded a $1 million community development block grant to the City of Maryville, Mo., on behalf of SSM Health St. Francis Hospital of Maryville. The funds will help expand access to early childhood education opportunities. The economic development department also has provided a $250,000 tax credit through a neighborhood assistance program to help the hospital construct a new early learning center to replace an outmoded one.
Mercy Medical Center of Canton, Ohio, has received a grant of more than $413,000 for 2016 and more than $920,000 for 2017 from the Crime Victims Section of the Ohio attorney general's office. These funds, made possible by the federal Victims of Crime Act, will allow for Mercy Medical Center's Healing After Violent Encounters Network to expand from an on-call response to an in-house department. Mercy said this will enable HAVEN to better serve victims of assault visiting the Mercy emergency department.
