CHE Trinity Health, the 21-state Catholic health system, announced its new name as Trinity Health on Nov. 19.
In May 2013, Catholic Health East and Trinity Health consolidated to become Livonia, Mich.-based CHE Trinity Health, which was the operating name used while naming options were explored for the new enterprise.
Trinity Health also unveiled a new logo featuring a cross formed from the wings of a dove, symbols of love, peace and caring. Three purple doves, reflecting the Holy Trinity, come together with a green dove, symbolizing the organization's openness to new partners and new ideas, according to a news release.
Dr. Richard J. Gilfillan, president and chief executive of Trinity Health, said "Our name best captures our mission to be a compassionate and transforming, healing presence in our communities and our vision of becoming the national leader in improving the health of our communities and the most trusted health partner for life of each person we serve."
Trinity Health has 86 hospitals, 128 continuing care facilities and home health and hospice programs. It has annual operating revenues of about $13.6 billion and assets of about $19.3 billion. The organization returns about $900 million to its communities annually in charity care and community benefit programs. Trinity Health employs about 89,000 people.
